Ana Lara:

When I was growing up, I used to tell everybody that I wanted to be an inventor. And I was just always really interested in pulling things apart and trying new things for different anything. I was making my family coming to my invention shows. And so once it came time to be a senior in high school, and I was trying to pick my major, I knew that I wanted to solve problems. And so I kind of homed in on engineering, and then looking at the different types of engineering, I think Industrial and Systems Engineering stuck out to me because it really focused on optimizing systems. And those were the problems that I was most interested in solving. How can I look at what we are doing currently in making better? Those are the types of problems that I had seen myself, on a smaller scale, looking at and being interested in. And so, that's what ultimately made me decide to go with industrial systems engineering, because I kind of figured I wasn't super interested in being an inventor, I wanted to be an innovator and Industrial Systems Engineering really let's me do that. Howdy, my name is Ana Lara, and I'm a member of the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department at Texas A&M University.

Steve Kuhlmann:

Industrial and Systems Engineering is the broadest of the engineering disciplines, allowing graduates to pursue jobs in many different industries around the world. Industrial engineers make long lasting and critical contributions to health care, manufacturing, food service, supply chain, aerospace and athletics. Industrial engineers design and maintain productive systems. A productive system is the integration of people processes, policies, facilities, equipment, and information. These contributions are seen in over 450 industries. Students in the industrial engineering program develop skills in these areas, and learn to work with peers in other disciplines on projects. The collaborative environment in which industrial engineers work allows for close relationships with other engineering disciplines, computer science and business. The Wm Michael Barnes 64 Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering boasts more than 40 faculty members, and has consistently ranked in the top 10 us departments over the past 10 years.

Madison Saunders:

Hi, my name is Madison Sanders, but I just go by MJ, and I'm a part of the Industrial and Systems Engineering Program at Texas A&M University. So ever since I was younger, I had love for airplanes. And I was looking for an internship to try to get into the aviation field, but I couldn't find anything because I was actually too young. And so one day I just so happened to stumble across a internship with SpaceWorks Enterprises, Inc. and they offered me the opportunity to come and intern as an aerospace engineering intern. And on top of that, I was also an industrial and systems engineering student. And so I was able to combine my love for aviation and aerospace engineering with industrial. And so I was focused more on the industrial side when it came to testing the project we were working on. And I fell in love with testing the risk assessments the making sure that the project is managed and I just loved that I was able to oversee every portion of the project, so we could work on it and complete it as well. And so ever since that internship, I just knew Industrial and Systems was the way for me to go. And it was the perfect way for me to combine my love with aerospace so that way I can get into the aviation field.
